From the inception of the Braemar Golf Club to the outbreak of World War II the Club enjoyed Royal Patronage.

His Grace The Duke of Fife was the first Patron of the Braemar Golf Club. His wife, HRH The Princess Royal, was the Patron from 1925 and 1930 with their daughter, HRH Princess Arthur of Connaught, taking on the position of Patron from 1931 until 1940.

The position of Patron was reinstated in the Centenary year and HRH The Duke of York is the Patron of the Braemar Golf Club.

The Duke has played the course and describes it as "a wonderful challenge" set "amid the magnificent scenery of Upper Deeside".
